Before applying for a provisional driving licence you need to check you are allowed to drive, you must be 17 to drive a car and you must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres. Once you have checked your eyesight, you can apply for your provisional licence before your 17th birthday so you can start to learn on your birthday. The cost is £34 if you apply online or £43 if you apply by post, you can apply here.

When you start lessons it is also a good time to start studying for your theory and hazard perception tests.
